What’s new you’ll get in Android 8.0 over 7.0
In May, Google had suddenly release developer preview the Android O into the market, when the Android N was still unavailable for many devices. It has to be noted that the first version of Android 8.0 will arrive for smartphones like Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, and Pixel XL phones, the Pixel C tablet, and the Nexus Player Android TV set-top box. Right now the OS is available in its beta form and can be downloaded too. However, there may be bugs in that variant. Before the final launch, here are the top features of the Android O, which distinguishes it from Android N:
Better battery life
Background Limits, ensures there are automatic limits on apps running in the background. This feature will enable the smartphone users to save a lot of battery. Such changes will also make it easier for developers to make apps that have the least effect on the user’s phone and battery.
Picture on Picture
This is a refreshing change on Android. Under this new feature, users will be able to use certain apps over other apps. So, you will be able to watch a video even while booking a cab or writing on the notepad. All you need to do is select apps to run in the PiP mode through Android 8.0 .
More notification controls
Thanks to a new feature called notification channels, you’ll be able to customize certain kinds of categories of notifications from apps – that way, you can block some less-useful notifications and ensure that only the essential ones pull you out of your daily routine. This could be handy with filtering notifications from certain conversations in messaging apps, for example.
Android O also lets developers change the background colour of a notification, useful when there’s a critical alert, and can display more content in the collapsed form in your android smartphone . You’ll also be able to silence some notifications and have them return later, while developers can have timed notifications cancel themselves out.

Wireless audio sound
Wireless audio, till now has not really been a breeze on smartphones, but now Android O supports high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs such as LDAC codec, which will give audio a boost. There are more features introduced for the audio on the smartphone, but this is the most interesting one since wireless sounds from smartphones are something which has not really been explored well, till now.
Android O has introduced better keyboard support for better navigation between applications. The company in its blog said that Android oreo is “focused on building a more reliable, predictable model for ‘arrow’ and ‘tab’ navigation” for users.”
Android device makers often use their own custom OS skins, which can throw off how the look and shape of app icons correspond with the rest of those you download from the Play Store. Luckily, Android 8.0 is going to do something about that.
Developers will be able to create so-called “adaptive icons” that offer multiple shape options that automatically shift based on your home screen theme. Circle, rounded square, or something in between? Android 8.0 hopes to keep your home screen grid uniform and unified by enabling creators to pack in multiple options.
We’ll have to see just how useful this is to the average user, but Google is promising some kind of multi-display support “for launching an activity on a remote display.”
This might be something that would come in handy for corresponding with a Chromebook, now that Chrome OS is becoming more and more friendly with Android, or maybe there’s more to it. Right now, we only have this limited info from Google’s developer preview documentation, but we’ll stay tuned to see if it ends up being something really compelling.
