Recently Lenovo launched the Lenovo K8 Note, it was launched quite impressively, but do you exactly know that device is impressive or not? Does Lenovo K8 Note being proved as a value for money device? Why Lenovo K7 Note was Being Skipped? Now it’s time to get the exact answers and look up at it’s details.
The K8 Note is not only Lenovo’s first significant launch in India in a while, it is also the first smartphone from the company’s stable to run on a near stock build of Android. The smartphone is a big jump from the K6 Note it replaces – so much so that Lenovo skipped the K7 Note altogether. It comes with a premium all-metal design, a dual camera setup at the rear, optimized software and fairly powerful internals.
Ever since completing its acquisition of the Moto brand, Lenovo has been on a roll in terms of smartphone shipments. Industry reports show that Lenovo has managed to become one of the top five smartphone vendors in India thanks to its vast portfolio of products. At the India launch of the K8 Note, Lenovo claimed that it has managed to sell 8.5 million K-series devices in the country so far.
With the Lenovo K8 Note, the company is also switching to a stock Android experience, ditching the Vibe Pure UI entirely, which is big move. On paper, the Lenovo K8 Note has some decent specs and features, but competition is stiff.
Why Lenovo K7 Note Was skipped?
Before we get into the key features of the K8 Note and how the smartphone stands out from the crowd, let’s talk a little bit about the K7 Note. Lenovo claims that it actually designed and developed a K7 Note but ultimately decided to shelve it as the company felt that it was too much of an incremental update to the K6 Note.
At the enovo K8 Note’s launch event, Anuj Sharma, head of product marketing, Lenovo said that they built a K7 Note concept but it never reached mass production because the company abandoned the project mid-way and decided to start afresh with the K8 Note.
He even revealed the proposed specifications of the K7 Note. The smartphone was supposed to be powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor along with 4GB of RAM and a 4,000mAh battery. It had a 5.5-inch fullHD display, an 8MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus.
In my opinion, the company maybe went two steps forward and one step backward with the Lenovo K8 Note as the Snapdragon 625 processor is a more efficient processor than the MediaTek X23 found on the K8 Note. Anyhow, getting back to the K8 Note, Lenovo claims that multimedia, performance, camera and software experience are the four key highlights of the smartphone.

Lenovo K8 Note Detailed Specifications Discussed:-
Let us look at the key features of the Lenovo K8 Note :
Display of Lenovo K8 Note:-
The Lenovo K8 Note is quite a premium looking phone that sports a body made entirely out of metal and glass. The all glass front is covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass for protection against nicks and scratches. The smartphone is available in two colors – Fine Gold and the menacing sounding Venom Black which comes with a matte finish.
The K8 Note is a smartphone geared towards multimedia enthusiasts. It comes with a 5.5-inch fullHD IPS LCD display which has 450 Nits of brightness and a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The smartphone comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports Dolby ATMOS and Theatre MAX 2.0.
Lenovo K8 Note – Percessor, Battery and RAM :-
The Lenovo K8 Note has fairly beefy internals. The smartphone is powered by the 20nm deca-core MediaTek Helio X23 processor paired with the Mali T880 GPU, 3/4GB of RAM and a 4,000mAh battery with TurboCharge support. Lenovo claims that the device can last one full day on a single charge, that too with fairly intensive use.
Lenovo K8 Note- Camera:-
The Lenovo K8 Note is the first Lenovo smartphone to come with a dual camera setup at the rear. At the back there is a 13MP primary camera mated to a secondary 5MP sensor. Both cameras have an aperture of f/2.0 and work together to capture images with depth of field effects. On the front, there is a 13MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a ‘Party Flash’ which will make the K8 Note an attractive proposition for selfie aficionados.
Lenovo K8 Note – Special Feature
The biggest highlight of the Lenovo K8 Note is not the internals, the sleek metal design or the dual camera setup. What makes the Lenovo K8 Note so special is the fact that it is the first Lenovo handset ever to run on a near stock build of Android. Vibe UI on previous Lenovo smartphones was known for being heavy, slow and full of bloat. Stock Android on K8 Note is a massive improvement.
In a move reminiscent of early Nokia Xpress Music handsets, the K8 Note comes with a dedicated Music key on the right edge of the device. This customisable key can not only be used to control music playback but also to open any third party app, turn on the flashlight or take a screenshot.
Lenovo K8 Note – Connectivity
On the connectivity front, the Lenovo K8 Note supports 4G VoLTE, dualSIMs, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1 and GPS/A-GPS. On a positive note, the device comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and three separate slots for the microSD card and the two SIM cards. The lack of NFC and a USB Type-C port though is a disappointment.
Lenovo K8 Note – Price :-
The Lenovo K8 Note is available in two variants – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage for Rs 12,999 and a higher end model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for Rs 13,999. The smartphone will go on sale on 12 noon, August 18 exclusively via Amazon India.
